chapter ten for Animal Farm

April 9, 2007

As the times passed, there were many more creatures on the farm now, though the increase was not as great as had been expected in earlier years. But, there was no one who remembered the old days before the Rebellion, except some animals. For some  new born animals, the Rebellion was only a dim tradition, passed on by word of mouth, and others had been bought who had never heard mention of such a thing before their arrival. They accepted everything that they were told about the Rebellion and the principles of Animalism, especially from Clover, for whom they had an almost filial respect; but it was doubtful and pity whether they understood very much of it. On the other hand, I think they are the “puppets” of Napoleon team.

The short animal lives fled by without getting any pensions. In fact, no animals had ever retired actually and the promise of setting aside a corner of the pasture for superannuated animals had long since been dropped. Napoleon who had become a mature boar of twenty-four stone still had a comfortable life.

The farm was more prosperous now, and better organized: it had even been enlarged by two fields which had been bought from Mr. Pilkington. The windmill had been successfully completed at last, and they also added some new farm requirements. It seemed as though the farm had grown richer without making the animals themselves any richer-except, of course, for the pigs and the dogs. The leader team always taught the animals the truest happiness lay in working hard and living frugally. So, the affluent lives didn’t be agreed in Animal Farm which ideas as contrary to the spirit of Animalism they declared.

Although things never had been, nor ever could be much better or much worse-hunger, hardship, and disappointment being, so he said, the unalterable law of life, they never gave up hopes which are tiny. They wish one day they could live freely, all animals were equal and the Republic of the Animals which was predicted before would come true.

Finally, some interesting things happened, most animals found a pig walking on his hind legs and many animals did as human do. They used radios or phone and started to read newspapers. They celebrated the Animal Farm flourished and they were all equal. They really felt free and lived like human beings.

chapter nine for Animal Farm

April 2, 2007

In last chapter, we knew the destruct wind miller would be rebuilt and some animals were hurt, included Boxer, the horse, who didn’t announce to anyone. Now, in this chapter, they had to face some questions, included the miller rebuilding, food shortage, and retirement rules which were caused by some hurt or old animals.

At the beginning of Animal Farm, they enacted the retirement laws and liberal old-age pensions had been agreed upon. However, no animals had actually retired on pension. There were a lot of disagreements and objections between animals.

Although life nowadays had a greater dignity than it had had before, they still couldn’t get and distribute food fairly. The situation of food shortage didn’t improve. Though some animals thought they were not in reality short of food and made a readjustment of rations, but, with the increasing workload for rebuild, the food was reducing. Of course, pigs and dogs never reduced their own food supplying and always had comfortable lives.

In April, Animal Farm was proclaimed a Republic and had to elect a president. There was no denied that there was only one candidate, Napoleon, who was elected unanimously. At the same time, he proclaimed some fresh documents had been discovered which revealed further details about Snowball’s complicity with Jones. Besides, Moses, the crow, suddenly reappeared on the farm and preached everyone he found the Promised Land”, however; no one believed and trusted him. These things consolidated more the leader position of Napoleon.

Excepted rebuild wind miller which had no enough sources, animals had to build the schoolhouse for the young pigs. The new work which was unreasonable mission made animals have more burdens, including Boxer who was more decline than before.

Late one evening in the summer, a sudden rumor ran round the farm that Boxer has fallen and couldn’t get up. Although he had a good care and remedy, he still died. The thing shocked the Animal Farm and caused a chain reaction which against the Napoleon. But, finally, the action was still terminated by some blandishments and lies.

Animal Farm which was under the Napoleon controlled filled the rumors, lies and blandishments up.

chapter eight for Animal Farm

March 22, 2007

When the terror caused by the executions had died down, some animals began to think the original rules of Animal Farm. They considered there was something wrong and strangeness. However, they couldn’t say anything when they saw the rules because there were good and sensible reasons which the decreed said clearly for killing the traitors. It was not violated.

Regarding the cultivated work and rebuild the miller, they worked arduously to finish the rate of progress. Even, they forgot why and what they must do this originally. In Farm, now, all orders were now issued through Squealer or one of the other pigs. Napoleon himself was not seen in public as often as once in a fortnight and he seemed to consider he was the one who was referred to in formal style as “our Leader, Comrade Napoleon,” “Ducklings’ Friend”, and so on.

The commercial activities with others were carrying out. But the pile of timber was still unsold. They had complicated negotiations for the price with Frederick and Pilkington. There were some different interpretations between animals in Farm. Finally, they decided not to sell the pile of timber to Frederick; even, they changed their slogans and principles to against Frederick.

In the autumn, by a tremendous, exhausting effort-for the harvest had to be gathered at almost the same time-the windmill was finished. They tired out but proud, In this time, Napoleon attended by his dogs and his cockerel, came down to inspect the completed work; he announced that the mill would be named “Napoleon Mill”.

Two days later, the animals were called together for a special meeting in the barn. They were struck dumb with surprise when Napoleon announced that he had sold the pile of timber to Frederick. However, finally, they found the exchange which they thought is a fraud, trickery and lie. They fought again for their benefits and revenges which were deceived without any supplies from other granges. It was a savage, bitter battle, but they had won and were weary and bleeding. In this campaign, they lost their wind miller again. Animal Farm had another new challenge.

chapter seven for Animal Farm

March 20, 2007

A strong and bitter winter was coming, however; animals still worked hard to rebuild the mill. Because they knew the human beings who spread rumors were watching them gloatingly.

Animals didn’t believe the spiteful slander and decided to thicken the mill walls from eighteen inches to three feet. But, except Boxer, all animals delayed and worked difficultly and hardly owing to cold weather.

In January, food fell short. Animals had nothing to eat but chaff and mangel. Starvation seemed to stare them in the face. However, they had to conceal this fact from outside the world to avoid encouraging others. So, they made use of Mr. Whymper to spread a contrary impression to cover the truths. Finally, He was deceived and continued to report to the outside world that there was no food shortage on Animal Farm.

Towards the end of January, the situation became obvious that it would be necessary to procure some more grain from somewhere. Napoleon decided that they had to sell more eggs to buy some food to keep the farm going till summer. But, all hens against this decision and revolted Napoleon. Although they were surrendered finally, this was the first rebellion which happened since the expulsion of Jones.

After this thing, another thing happened which was a hearsay that Snowball came back. The animals were thoroughly frightened. It seemed to them as though Snowball were some kind of invisible influence, pervading the air about them and menacing them with all kinds of dangers. And every kind of actions started to quash and punish. The air was heavy with the smell of blood, which had been unknown there since the expulsion of Jones. When it was all over, the remaining animals, except for the pigs and dogs, crept away in a body. They were shaken and miserable. They did not know which was more shocking-the treachery of the animals who had leagued themselves with Snowball, or the cruel retribution they had just witnessed.

“Beasts of England” was forbidden to sing and replaced another song, Animal Farm, which many animals queried and made by Minimus, who is the poet. Because the song had no longer any purpose till the rebellion was now completed.

Every Sunday morning, the song was sung after the hoisting of the flag. But somehow neither the words nor the tune ever seemed to the animals to come up to Beasts of England

combination of chapter six

March 6, 2007

In chapter six of Animal Farm, there are three main shafts. The first is about food. The animals work at a backbreaking pace to farm enough food. They work like salves. However, they enjoy themselves in their works because they know that everything they do is for them selves and will give them a lot of benefit, not for farmers which are lazy, and idle.

The second line is about the windmill building which presents unexpected difficulties. Though they found some materials and resources which adapted to build the windmill, but they don’t have ideals to deliver or transport them. In the laborious process, we can find the loyal following of Napoleon, Boxer who always works hard for Napoleon.

The last aspect is about the trade. Animal Farm will engage in trade with the neighboring farms without any commercial purpose, only for the necessaries. But, there are disagreements among animals about this rule. They have a gap.

In the last paragraph of chapter six, there is a tragedy happened which the windmill was destroyed. And they found Snowball disrupted furtively which is a conspiracy. But there must be no alteration in our plans because they will teach this miserable traitor that he cannot undo their work so easily.

chapter six for Animal Farm

March 2, 2007

Although animals worked like slaves, they enjoyed themselves in their works because they knew that everything they did was for them selves and gave them a lot of benefit, not for farmers which were lazy, and idle.

In the period of the growing season, their workloads became more and more although they all were voluntaries. However, they found some things were not finished in time. It was possible to foresee that the coming winter would be a hard one.

Besides, the windmill presented unexpected difficulties. Though they found some materials and resources which adapted to build the windmill, but they didn’t have ideals to deliver or transport. Finally, they completed it exhaustedly and built the windmill. In the laborious process, Boxer, the loyal following of Napoleon, always worked and collected the stone hardly. Fortunately, in this summer, they got a lot of necessaries and food which they worked without supporting five extravagant human beings.

One Sunday morning, when they were in the meeting, Napoleon announced that he had decided upon a new policy. Animal Farm would engage in trade with the neighboring farms without any commercial purpose. The business was just only for obtaining certain materials which were urgently necessary. However, there were some impacts and influences among the animals. Some animals considered these new rules which Napoleon enacted were some challenges and reactionaries

In cold December, there was a tragedy happened which the windmill was destroyed by raging south-west winds. And they found Snowball disrupted furtively. Animals were anger and indignation, but there must be no alteration in our plans: they shall be carried out to the day because they will teach this miserable traitor that he cannot undo their work so easily.

chapter five for Animal Farm

February 25, 2007

In this beginning of chapter five, in Animal Farm, there is a counterforce, Mollie who has a good connection and relationship with farmers. In other animal minds, she appeared to be enjoying herself, so, finally, none of the animals ever mentioned Mollie again.

There are some potential problems which start to emerge from the bitterly weather in January. In meeting, there have different opinions and disputes between Snowball and Napoleon. These two disagreed at every point where disagreement was possible. Even, they have different party groupings which have their own party groupings.

The most two serious disputes are windmill which Snowball promoted and the questions of the defense of the farm which has caused conflicts. However, there is a dramatic result in the farm. Snowball was drove by some fearsome dogs which were raised by Napoleon. The Animal Farm entered the “iron discipline” generation.

Several days ago, Napoleon ordered animals starting to build the windmill, the ideal plagiarized by Snowball. In fact, the clash between Snowball and Napoleon is not only a conspiracy, but a strategy which will decide who is the boss (or leader) in the farm.

chapter four for Animal Farm

February 16, 2007

The news of rebellion on the Animal Farm spread like rippling on the water. The animals neighboring farms all talked about their story and sang their tune of Beasts of England. However, they were both thoroughly frightened by the rebellion on Animal Farm, and very anxious to prevent their own animals from learning too much about it.

The farmer, Mr. Jones, and some farmers who are expelled like Mr. Jones tried to recapture of their farms. Finally, animals had a battle which was called “the Battle of the Cowshed” against Mr. Jones and they, animals, got a big victory. Even, they set the gun up at the foot of the Flagstaff to memory this battle and called this day as “The anniversary of the Rebellion.”

chapter three for Animal Farm

February 11, 2007

After revolution which we called, the rules and works of the farm went like clockwork. Everything is under controlling by animals. Although some animals, like donkey and cat, didn’t work, most animals still worked hardly and got the biggest harvest that the farm had ever seen.

On Sundays, there was no work and animals had a ceremony which was called “Meeting” and hold every week without fail. In this farm, pigs are leaders. They organized a lot of committees, such as “The Animal Committee”, “Re-education committee”, “Reading and Writing class” and so on. Some were failed, but some were succeeded

Although they find out where the milk was mixed in pigs’ food, pigs start to use some fallacies to persuade and rationalize animals. Because they are leaders and they are so smart that they should have more food.

chapter two for Animal Farm

February 8, 2007

In the chapter two, the author uses more sarcastic and funny methodes to describe the revolution and the new life style of animals.

First, some animals which are three pigs and horses propagandize courage and obey some concepts and rules in their farm. They all wait for a choice to be free. One day, the choice is coming. They succeed to revolute for food which is the basic necessary for them. Even, they enact seven norms, laws and rules in their own farm –“Animal Farm”.

However, the happy day is no longer. One day, when they go back their farm, they find someone “steals” their milk which collected hardly.

The chapter has a lot of funny and fascinating metaphors to explain some unfair things, rules and systems. And most importantly, it tells us what many people want is “freedom”(what “milk” is in the article) — a simple conception, but hard to get.
